Can you believe that Christmas Eve is only a week from today? Wow! I certainly can't, but life has been a blur for the past month or so. This past Wednesday night was the first time in ten days that I had the chance to stay at home for the evening. Holy smokes! Even though I'm a pretty outgoing person, a girl's gotta have some down time and ten nights' worth of activities is pushing the limit!
Now that I'm finally relaxed and almost finished shopping (!!), I'm so glad to be able to sit back and enjoy the Christmas season and all that comes with it. I'm loving our real tree (my first ever!) and the wonderful way it makes our house smell. I'm also loving all of the Christmas lights I see on our house and those of our neighbors. I also love reflecting on the reason we even celebrate Christmas-to mark the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I get teary-eyed just imagining what it would be like to have been a fly on the wall (or a cow in the barn) when Christ was born. Wow. God and his perfect plan never ceases to amaze me.
My inner mommy is also doing some daydreaming. I can't help but think that this time next year, we will, Lord willing, be celebrating our first Christmas as parents! I can't wait to see the eyes of our little Anneliese or Maddux light up as he or she spends the first Christmas with the family God chose for them before they were ever born.
Merry Christmas, friends!
